familiar:主語が「人」か「物」かで前置詞が違うので注意。「人」の場合、be familiar with ...「人」以外の場合、be familiar to ...となる。

She is familiar with the story.彼女はその話をよく知っている

The story is familiar to her.

This was an important stage in the country's development.

これはその国の発展において大切な段階であった。
